Cake ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
½ cup butter or margarine (one stick)
¼ teaspoon salt
2 eggs (unbeaten)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sour cream
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda

Cream together sugars, butter, salt, eggs and vanilla.  Place flour in a separate bowl, add baking powder and soda, and mix well.  Add sour cream and flour mixture to creamed ingredients and beat at slow speed with electric beater until very smooth, occasionally scraping sides of bowl.

Traditional topping/filling mixture 
¼ cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup chopped walnuts

Alternative filling/topping 
½ can whole cranberry sauce (makes cake more moist)
Chopped walnuts (sprinkle on bottom of cake at end)

 Spoon half of the batter into an angel food, bundt or 9”x9” baking pan.  Spoon topping mixture evenly over the batter. Make sure topping/filling is incorporated into batter to create a swirl of flavor. Spoon balance of batter into pan and top with remaining mixture or nuts.  Bake in preheated 350 degree (F) oven for 45 to 50 minutes.
